Tigers' Cabrera leaves with right ankle injury

Published Sep. 27, 2010 10:19 p.m. ET

Miguel Cabrera has left the Detroit Tigers' game with an apparent injury to his right ankle in the seventh inning.

Cabrera, whose 126 RBIs lead the majors, singled off Cleveland Indians reliever Joe Smith, who then tried to pick the slugger off first base. Cabrera lunged for the bag with his right foot, landing awkwardly to get back.

He limped back to the dugout and was replaced by Brennan Boesch.

Cabrera is tied for second in the AL with 38 homers and is hitting .328 after going 1 for 3 with an intentional walk.

Cabrera's 32 intentional walks are two shy of the AL record set by Ted Williams of the Boston Red Sox in 1957.
