See stubborn pigeons give Miggy the bird during at-bat (VIDEO)
How many Major League Baseball players does it take to spook a pair of pigeons? More than two, apparently.
Two bold birds caused a stoppage in play during Miguel Cabrera’s first-inning at-bat against Pittsburgh Pirates starter Vance Worley on Wednesday night, showing they weren’t scared of any bats, baseballs or people.
Worley tried stomping in the pigeons’ direction to scare them off, but that didn’t work. Cabrera then tried his luck, swinging his bat at the birds to no avail. Worley even rolled the ball right by them toward home plate, but they just wouldn’t budge.
The fearless birds eventually were captured with a net and taken off the field by Comerica Park grounds crew members, and Cabrera flied out to right field once the at-bat resumed.
Opposing pitchers might have finally found something that can stop the nine-time All-Star.
