PHILADELPHIA (AP) The Philadelphia Phillies placed right-hander Jerome Williams on the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday with a left hamstring strain.

Williams (3-7, 6.43) was injured in the first inning of Tuesday's 19-3 loss to the Baltimore Orioles while trying to cover home plate. The Phillies recalled right-hander Hector Neris from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Neris pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings in two appearances with the Phillies this season. He was 1-3 with a 3.60 ERA in 22 games at Lehigh Valley.
