LHP Scott Olsen agrees to 1-year deal with Pirates

Left-hander Scott Olsen has agreed to a $550,000, one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates that includes a club option for 2012.

Olsen gets a $450,000 salary next season. The deal includes a $4 million option for 2012 with a $100,000 buyout. Olsen also can earn $3 million in performance bonuses based on starts next season and, if the option is picked up, $1 million more in bonuses in 2012.

Olsen, who turns 27 in January, was 4-8 with a 5.56 ERA in 17 games, 15 starts, for Washington last season. He has a career record of 37-49 with a 4.85 ERA over six years in the majors.

Pittsburgh announced the deal on Friday.
