Japanese team buys contract of Tigers' Figaro

The Detroit Tigers have sold the contract of pitcher Alfredo Figaro to the Orix Buffaloes of the Japanese Baseball League.

The Tigers announced the deal Tuesday.

Figaro made eight appearances with the Tigers in 2010, going 0-2 with a 6.75 ERA. The right-hander went 10-6 with a 4.14 ERA with Triple-A Toledo.

The 26-year-old Figaro has a 6.54 ERA in 31 2-3 innings in two seasons at the major league level.
