Dodgers put reliever Cingrani on DL with shoulder discomfort
PITTSBURGH (AP) The Los Angeles Dodgers placed left-handed reliever Tony Cingrani on the disabled list Thursday with discomfort in his throwing shoulder.
Cingrani left Wednesday night's 11-9 loss to Pittsburgh after making just six pitches in the eighth inning and complained to manager Dave Roberts afterward about pain in the shoulder. Cingrani is 1-2 with a 4.84 ERA in 27 appearances for the defending National League champions.
The Dodgers called up reliever Pedro Baez to fill Cingrani's spot. Baez was optioned on Wednesday, but never even made it to the airport in Pittsburgh.
Los Angeles also called up reliever Edward Paredes to help out a bullpen that's been forced to pitch at least six innings in four of the Dodgers' past six games. Los Angeles sent rookie Caleb Ferguson back to Triple-A Oklahoma City a day after Ferguson lasted just 1 2/3 innings in his first major league start.
