Dodgers place Beckett on DL with hip injury; Hernandez activated
The Los Angeles Dodgers placed Josh Beckett on the 15-day disabled list for the third time this season prior to their game Friday with the Milwaukee Brewers.
Beckett, who is 6-6 with a 2.88 ERA in 20 starts for the Dodgers this season, has a left hip impingement. The move is retroactive to August 4. He is expected to be out about two weeks. The 14-year veteran made three starts since being reinstated on July 22 from the same injury which occurred on July 8. His first time on the disabled list was March 22 when he had a right-thumb contusion.
Right-hander Roberto Hernandez, acquired Thursday from Philadelphia, was activated and starts Friday night's game against the Brewers. Hernandez is 6-8 with a 3.87 ERA this season, his first in the National League. In his last seven starts, he's posted a 2.85 ERA.
