Casey Blake is out a few days with rib injury

Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Casey Blake is expected to be sidelined for a few days because of an injury to a muscle near the back of his rib cage.
Blake said Sunday before the Dodgers played a split-squad game against the Chicago White Sox at Camelback Ranch that he does not know if the injury is serious.
The Dodgers initially thought Blake injured his lower back bunting Saturday.
''This is more on the ribs,'' said Blake, who missed four games in June with back spasms. ''I think they're pretty relieved that's where it is. That can go away in a day or two.''
The Dodgers medical staff plans to monitor Blake's condition as he undergoes treatment for the next couple of days.
''I was going to play three or four days in a row,'' Blake said. ''I was kind of looking forward to that. But what are you going to do?''
Dodgers manager Don Mattingly had planned to give the 37-year-old Blake more days off in an attempt to avoid injury.
''At my age, I just need to stay hydrated, warm up, whatever,'' said Blake, who hit .248 with 17 homers and 64 RBIs last season.
