Braves option Minor to Gwinnett, call up Boscan

The Atlanta Braves have optioned left-hander Mike Minor to Triple-A Gwinnett as they anticipate Jair Jurrjens' return to the rotation.

The Braves also purchased the contract of catcher J.C. Boscan from Gwinnett on Friday. The addition of Boscan gives manager Fredi Gonzalez more flexibility to use backup catcher David Ross as a pinch-hitter.

Minor (0-1) gave up seven hits and five runs in 4 1-3 innings in a 5-4 loss at Milwaukee on Wednesday.

Minor was given the spot start as Jurrjens opened the season on the 15-day disabled list with a right oblique strain. Jurrjens will make a rehab start for Gwinnett on Monday and could then return to Atlanta if he has no setback.
