Every Monday, D.J. Foster will highlight 10 waiver wire adds for your fantasy basketball team. Here are the selections for February 29:
Fantasy Basketball Top 10 Waiver Adds (February 29) | |||
Player | Position | Games | Note |
Luol Deng | SF/PF | 4 | Has recorded a double-double in five of his last six games and is starting to pick up more of the scoring slack with Chris Bosh sidelined. He's much better suited for this smallball 4 role. |
Eric Gordon | SG | 3 | In his first game back from a long injury absence, Gordon dropped 31 points. The Pelicans need wing scoring badly, and Gordon should be a reliable source of points and threes. |
Alex Len | C | 4 | He won't always be consistent, but he can put up monster 22-point, 16-rebound games like he did in his last outing. If you need center help, he's your guy. |
Mirza Teletovic | PF | 4 | The increase in playing time and lack of scorers on the roster has led to a few hot shooting nights from deep for the specialist. He won't give you a ton elsewhere, but he can carry your team in threes. |
Donald Sloan | PG | 4 | Someone has to put up stats in Brooklyn, especially with Joe Johnson gone. Sloan is a good rebounder for his position and should add decent assist and point totals down the stretch. |
E'Twaun Moore | PG/SG | 3 | Derrick Rose is going to keep missing time, and Jimmy Butler hasn't returned quite yet. As long as Butler is out, Moore is a cheap source of scoring. |
David Lee | PF | 3 | If any coach can stomach poor defense from a skilled veteran, it's Rick Carlisle. Lee looks to be a major part of the rotation and we he's still a double-double threat when he plays upwards of 25-30 minutes. |
Doug McDermott | SF | 3 | He's like a poor man's Mirza Teletovic. If you're in a deep league, McDermott can add some threes until Butler returns. |
Langston Galloway | PG/SG | 3 | Arron Afflalo is banged up, which could lead to more time for Galloway. He'll help in rebounds and assists if he can start receiving more than 30 minutes a night. |
Patrick Beverley | PG | 4 | The four-game week helps, and it might not be long until Ty Lawson is out of the picture in Houston. If you needs steals, Beverley can help. |

Don't forget the teams that are dead in the standings at this time of year. Guys like Gordon and Teletovic are going to have high usage percentages and some big scoring nights going forward. After Deng, Gordon is my favorite pickup. I don't fully trust Lee or McDermott yet, but I would think Lee would have the better shot at fantasy relevance the rest of the way. His poor defense tends to wear on coaches, but the early playing time is a good sign. I'm not sure how Alex Len is available in so many leagues. Go get him if he's out there.
Safe to cut: Norris Cole, Danilo Gallinari, Trey Burke
