Richt: Georgia could use 'a couple' of QBs in the opener
A week into fall practice and the Georgia Bulldogs are no closer to naming a starter at the quarterback position. Head coach Mark Richt fielded questions following Wednesday's practice and seems willing to let the competition continue into the regular season if necessary.
“There’s a chance we have a couple of guys taking reps in game one, I’m not sure,” Richt said, according to the Athens Banner Herald. “I’m not even set on saying that I’m going to have a first-teamer by the (opener).”
With the team's first scrimmage to be played Friday, expect all three quarterbacks currently vying for the role to play - Brice Ramsey, Faton Bauta and Greyson Lambert - to play in the scrimmage.
Richt added all three will get “as equal of an opportunity as possible. …They’ll get shots with the ones, the twos and they all three may get shots with the threes as well so we can try to be as fair as we can, but also be as thorough as we can.”
