Lack of depth an issue for reeling BYU
BYU suffered several injuries and suspension before and early in the season, and it's coming back to haunt them now. Mangum Magic has worn off, and now, the Cougars are seriously lacking in depth.
Gone are BYU's starting quarterback, running back and some key defensive players.
“We need to continue to add depth at every position,” Bronco Mendenhall said. “The more players you have, the more you can sustain those types of consistent (injuries) and I started to feel a little bit of the wear going into (the Michigan) game.”
And it certainly showed on both sides of the ball. BYU got absolutely manhandled by Jim Harbaugh's squad, and the Cougar schedule will remain tough.
“Depth is an issue,” Mendenhall said. “To play as many good teams as I want to play, and as consistently, that would be the one takeaway right now.”
