After UGA win Michel throws support behind coaches: 'We stand by them'

It has been a turbulent week for the Georgia football program, as the coaching staff suffered from a number of rumors and allegations of strife from both outside and inside the program. The cure to making it all go away is by winning on the field, something the Bulldogs had no program doing against Kentucky in a 27-3 win.

Immediately after the game, running back Sony Michel was asked to respond on how the team was able to focus this week amidst all the distractions.

"Coach Mark Richt did a great job this week of helping the team keep our composure and try to eliminate the outside noise," Michel said. "I want to thank him, Coach Schotty and the rest of the coaches for standing by us.

"We stand by them too. We executed today, and we got the victory."

Michel has been asked to step up his production following the loss of Nick Chubb and had his best performance to date against Kentucky Saturday with 165 rushing yards and a touchdown. Michel was quick to point out that his success was due to the team around him.

"It all starts with the offensive line and the receivers," Michel said. "I just want to thank the offensive line for doing a great job. Coach Schotty for calling a great game. I believe he calls a great game every week, we just have to execute it."

Sitting at 6-3 on the season, the Bulldogs can still earn as many as 10 wins on the season and should be favored in every game to close out its season.

"Georgia is still here," Michel said. "We can still run the ball. We still have some building to do, and I look forward to us executing every week."
