Homesley, Kermite lead Liberty over MVSU 70-55

LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) Caleb Homesley scored 22 points and Ryan Kemrite 21 to lead Liberty to a 70-55 victory over Mississippi Valley State on Wednesday.

Homesley was 9-of-16 shooting with three 3-pointers with his point total matching a career high for the sophomore. Kemrite, a junior, made a career-best seven 3-pointers on 10 attempts.

Liberty (3-2) made 14 of 26 3-point attempts, the second straight game the Flames made 14 following an 84-77 victory over UMass Lowell on Monday.

The Delta Devils (0-6), who are beginning their season with 14 consecutive games on the road until their home opener Jan. 7, got a career-high 26 points and five steals from senior Rashaan Surles, who was 10-of-16 shooting. Darrell Riley added 14 points.

Kemrite hit a 3-pointer in the opening seconds of the second half to put the Flames ahead by 11 points and MVSU didn't get closer than nine thereafter.
