Former Blue Devil Discusses Return to North Carolina

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 9:10 p.m. ET

Former Blue Devil iles Plumlee recently opened up about being traded to the Charlotte Hornets and returning to the state of North Carolina.

Former Duke center Miles Plumlee was involved in one of the biggest moves so far this NBA season, being traded from the Milwaukee Bucks to the Charlotte Hornets. The oldest Plumlee brother recently discussed the trade and what it means to be back in North Carolina.

The former Blue Devil recently spoke about the move in an interview with Hornets media. He saw his playing time in Milwaukee decrease, and is excited for this new opportunity in Charlotte. He will get a chance to have an expanded role with the Hornets, and adds that being back in North Carolina is “a big bonus” and the state “still feels like home“. The 6-11 center spent four years in Durham, NC competing with the Duke Men’s Basketball program.

Miles Plumlee is known for his time at Duke and being the oldest of the Plumlee brothers. Miles, Mason, and Marshall all played for the Blue Devils under Coach K and are currently in the NBA. All three helped Duke win national titles, and Miles was part of the 2010 National Championship team. After a career senior season he was drafted in the first round of the 2012 draft by the Indiana Pacers.

Miles Plumlee was able to make an immediate impact in his first appearance with his new team. The day after he was traded, he recorded 4 points and 8 rebounds for the Hornets without practicing. Hopefully the change of scenery will pay off for Plumlee and he’s able to display his hustle and athleticism nearby in Charlotte.
