Epps Named to John Wooden Preseason Top 30 Watch List

The Kentucky Women’s Basketball team is off to a hot start this year, leaning heavily on the play of senior guard Makayla Epps, who was just named to the John R. Wooden Award Preseason Top 30 Watch List

She was absolutely dominant against Oklahoma, scoring 30 points and leading the Cats to an upset win over the No. 12 team in the country. Days later, she was at it again, grabbing 16 boards and leading the Cats in an overtime loss to No. 7 Louisville in the Yum! Center.
And the basketball world is starting to take notice.
Makayla Epps was recently named to the John R. Wooden Award Preseason Top 30 Watch List. Epps had previously been named to the Nancy Lieberman Award Watch List, Naismith Top 50 and Wade Trophy Watch List, as well as Preseason All-America honors from College Sports Madness’, The Sporting News and Athlon Sports. The media and coaches also named Epps to Preseason All-SEC.
Epps is currently ranked 15th all-time in scoring for Kentucky with 1,362 career points, averaging 19.4 points per game this season, with 42 assists and 14 steals. Coming off SEC Player of the Week honors, Epps has scored in double figures every game this season.
