WASHINGTON, D.C. (AP) Delante Jones scored 18 points and James Washington added 12 to lead American to its fifth-straight win as it beat Bucknell 69-55 Wednesday night.

The last time American had a five-game winning streak was during the 2013-14 season, when the Eagles won 11 in a row from Dec. 29 to Feb. 5. The win snapped Bucknell's four-game win streak.

American (7-15, 5-6 Patriot League) broke open what was a close contest throughout in the game's final minutes. Washington hit a 3, Charlie Jones made a layup and Paris Maragkos' 3 with 2:35 left gave the Eagles their biggest lead of the night at 57-51.

Bucknell shot just 2 of 7 from the field and missed two free throws in the last two minutes. The Bison shot 19 for 51 (37 percent) and missed all 15 of its 3 pointers.
