Ghana beats Togo 4-1 in friendly

Ghana gave new coach Goran Stevanovic a winning start with a 4-1

victory over Togo in a friendly Tuesday.

Striker Dominic Adiyiah gave Ghana a 1-0 lead at halftime and

after Togo equalized with a penalty three minutes into the second

half, Jonathan Mensah, an own goal from Togo defender Akpakpo, and

a late strike from Samuel Inkoom sealed the win.

Ghana is Africa’s top team in the FIFA world rankings at 15 and

reached the quarterfinals of the World Cup last year. It used the

game to prepare for next month’s African Cup of Nations qualifier

against Congo.

”I am happy with the result but more pleased with the way my

team played,” coach Stevanovic told the Ghana federation web site.

”Scoring four goals was a good result.”
