Impact With the Cardinals sitting their starting offense outside of rookie WR Marvin Harrison, Benson, a 2024 third-rounder, got the call on the team's first snap from scrimmage and ended up pacing Arizona in rushes. The trend may continue in the team's final two exhibitions because No. 1 QB Kyler Murray isn't expected to play until Week 1, meaning top RB James Conner could be destined for a similar outcome. If so, Benson should have plenty of chances to establish himself on the depth chart, especially with fellow back Emari Demercado dealing with a shoulder injury at the moment.

Greg Dortch - No action in preseason opener Dortch didn't suit up for Saturday's preseason game versus the Saints.
Impact Dortch was listed as a starting wide receiver on the Cardinals' first unofficial depth chart of training camp alongside rookie first-round pick Marvin Harrison and second-year pro Michael Wilson. After going undrafted in 2019 and not seeing an offensive snap until 2021 with Arizona, Dortch was worked his way into a regular role in the offense the last two seasons, accounting for 76 catches (on 105 targets) for 747 yards and four touchdowns in 32 regular-season games during that stretch. Coach Jonathan Gannon expressed confidence in Dortch this past Tuesday, telling Darren Urban of the team's official site, "He's going to have a big year, guys." In addition to his upcoming role on offense, Dortch is expected to be a part of the return mix as well, boasting career averages of 21.0 yards on 37 kick returns and 8.0 yards on 62 punt returns.

Marvin Harrison Jr. - Preseason debut on deck Coach Jonathan Gannon said Thursday that Harrison will suit up for Saturday's preseason opener against the Saints, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
Impact Harrison will have a chance to log some exhibition reps Saturday, though Gannon already confirmed quarterback Kyler Murray won't suit up for any preseason action. That leaves Harrison in position to catch passes from Desmond Ridder and Clayton Tune during the preseason, while he'll have to wait until Week 1's road opener against the Bills to demonstrate his chemistry with Murray. Gannon didn't offer an estimation of Harrison's expected workload for Saturday, but it would be surprising to see the rookie fourth overall pick handling too many game reps before the regular season.

Impact So far during training camp, Demercado has been getting regular reps with the Cardinals' first-team offense, subbing in for No. 1 RB James Conner in such situations. Behind that duo, Michael Carter has handled most of the work with the second team, followed by rookie third-rounder Trey Benson. There's still plenty of time for the pecking order to change ahead of Week 1, and perhaps Demercado's current health concern causes him to tumble.
