Johnny Davis - Avoids injury report Davis (knee) isn't listed on the Wizards' injury report ahead of Monday's preseason game in Charlotte.
Impact Davis was recently sidelined for consecutive practices due to a knee injury, but he was back on the court Sunday and appears in line to suit up Monday. Deni Avdija - Sitting out Monday Avdija (groin) won't play in Monday's preseason game against the Hornets, Josh Robbins of The Athletic reports.
Impact Avdija will miss his third preseason game in a row on account of a left groin strain, though head coach Wes Unseld Jr. said the forward is making progress and recently played full-contact, 3-on-3 scrimmages. His last chance to play before the start of the regular season will come Friday against the Knicks.
OCTOBER 9, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Johnny Davis - Participates in practice Sunday Davis (knee) returned to practice Sunday, Josh Robbins of The Athletic reports.
Impact Davis was sidelined for practice Thursday and Friday due to a knee issue, and while the extent of Davis' production and the activity level of Sunday's practice remain unclear, it's a positive sign to see the rookie back in the mix. If fully healthy, Davis could see an increased workload to start the campaign with Corey Kispert (ankle) sidelined for 4-to-6 weeks and with Bradley Beal (COVID-19) in the health and safety protocols.
OCTOBER 9, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Bradley Beal - Placed in protocols Beal entered the league's COVID-19 health and safety protocols Sunday and won't play in Monday's preseason game against the Hornets.
Impact As an established veteran, Beal was unlikely to see heavy minutes anyway, but the Wizards will have to hope that Beal isn't dealing with overly severe symptoms of the virus while he's following the health and safety protocols. Assuming he bounces back quickly from the illness and tests negative, Beal could be available for the Wizards' preseason finale Friday against the Knicks.
OCTOBER 9, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Johnny Davis - Misses another practice Wizards coach Wes Unseld Jr. said that Davis (knee) was held out of practice Friday, Ava Wallace of The Washington Post reports.

The Washington Wizards say Corey Kispert is expected to miss four to six weeks because of a sprained left ankle
OCTOBER 5, 2022 • Associated Press
Deni Avdija - Considered doubtful for Monday Wizards head coach Wes Unseld said Avdija (groin) was a partial participant in practice Wednesday and is considered doubtful for Monday's preseason game against the Hornets, Chase...
Impact Avdija didn't play in either of the team's exhibition contests against the Warriors in Japan, and he's trending toward a third straight absence due to a lingering groin issue he picked up while playing for the Israeli national team over the summer. However, when available, the 2020 first-round pick is expected to be a core part of Washington's rotation to start the 2022-23 campaign.
OCTOBER 5, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Corey Kispert - Out 4-to-6 weeks Kispert will miss approximately four to six weeks after spraining his left ankle during Sunday's preseason contest against the Warriors.
Impact Kispert will miss at least the first few weeks of the regular season due to the ankle sprain. This is a tough blow for the second-year guard, who finished his rookie season posting 11.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.5 assists over the final 29 games of his rookie campaign. In his absence, rookie first-round pick Johnny Davis could garner an increased reserve role to start the 2022-23 campaign.

Rui Hachimura - Double-double Sunday Hachimura produced 11 points (4-10 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 10 rebounds, two assists and two steals in 26 minutes in a 104-95 loss Sunday against Golden State in a preseason contest i...
Impact After nearly posting a double-double in the preseason opener, Hachimura made it happen Sunday. He's averaging 12 points and 9.5 rebounds in 25.5 minutes in two preseason games while going 9-for-19 from the field. The 24-year-old missed the first 39 games of last season and came off the bench in 29 contests before starting the final 13 games of the season. He averaged 14.2 points and 5.1 rebounds as a starter but will have to compete against Kyle Kuzma, Deni Avdija and Will Barton for minutes on the wing this year.

Impact In his first appearance of the preseason, Barton struggled from the field. He missed the Wizards' first preseason game due to a lower back injury and wasn't announced as a starter Sunday until close to game time. Washington acquired the 31-year-old in July from Denver and hopes he will maintain his production from eight seasons with the Nuggets when he averaged 14 points per game and made 36.2 percent of three-point attempts.
OCTOBER 2, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Kristaps Porzingis - Strong showing in loss Porzingis compiled 18 points (5-9 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 6-6 FT), six rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks in 22 minutes in a 104-95 loss Sunday in a preseason game against the W...
Impact Porzingis bounced back from a poor preseason opener and had a productive game against the defending champs. He has six steals and three blocks in the first two preseason games. The 27-year-old averaged 22.1 points and 8.8 rebounds in 17 games with Washington last season after being acquired in a midseason trade with Dallas. He can opt out of his contract following the season and will likely choose to do so with a healthy and productive campaign.

Will Barton - Might end up playing Sunday Barton (back) is probable for Sunday's game against the Warriors, according to Ava Wallace of The Washington Post.
Impact The 31-year-old veteran did not face the Warriors in the preseason opener, but there is a chance he can play this time around since his injury has never been deemed serious in the first place. Barton is expected to play a consistent scoring role for Washington in 2022-23.
OCTOBER 2, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Bradley Beal - Will receive rest Sunday Beal won't play Sunday against the Warriors and will receive rest from the coaching staff, according to Ava Wallace of The Washington Post.
Impact Beal underwent season-ending surgery in February to address a left wrist injury, and even though he recorded only 18 minutes in the preseason opener, that should be enough to suggest he's healthy entering the upcoming campaign. The Wizards are not looking to deal with any risks regarding his availability, so with that in mind, resting him represents an intelligent decision.
OCTOBER 2, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Deni Avdija - Not facing Golden State on Saturday Avdija won't play Sunday against the Warriors since he continues to rehab from a nagging groin injury, according to Ava Wallace of The Washington Post.
Impact The young and promising forward has been ruled out for the second game of the series against the reigning NBA champions, but the goal remains to keep Avdija healthy enough to be part of the starting unit for the start of the regular season. The Wizards open their campaign on the road against the Pacers on Oct. 19.
