Impact Hatton looked like he was in prime position for his first major championship late on Sunday. He hit an incredible 4-iron to 10 feet at the par-3 16th with a shot to take the outright lead over a crowded leaderboard. That putt slipped by and then he got a terrible break at the short par-4 17th that led to a bogey. A bad drive on 18 then led to another bogey and he ended up in a share of fourth. Hatton will certainly be disappointed for awhile as it really felt like he had a great shot to win this wild U.S. Open. The good news is that he is guaranteed of a spot at The Masters next year with this result and he should be a top contender at the Open Championship next month.
