FCS playoff committee to reveal Top 10 twice

Updated Mar. 5, 2020 2:12 a.m. ET

(STATS) - For the second straight year, the NCAA Division I Football Championship Committee will reveal its top 10 teams in the weeks preceding the announcement of the 24-team FCS playoff field.

The rankings will be announced during the halftime studio shows of two games on ESPNU, the first being Idaho at Troy on Nov. 2 (9:15 p.m. ET kickoff) and the second Georgia Southern at Appalachian State on Nov. 9 (7:30 p.m. ET).

The rankings debuted last year with three different sets. They are expected to build excitement around the playoffs and have bearing on the final bracket, which will be announced Nov. 19, also on ESPNU (11 a.m.).

"The reveals are good because they cause lots of conversation and excitement, but at the same time, things are fluid," Wofford athletic director Richard Johnson, the FCS selection chair, told STATS during the summer.
