Times are changing for Iowa recruiting

Published Apr. 21, 2015 1:36 p.m. ET

More and more high school recruits are pushing up their decisions on where to commit for college and it's forcing schools to adjust.

One of those schools is the Iowa Hawkeyes who traditionally have liked to evaluate players a bit more than the norm before offering a scholarship. In order to keep up with the powers in the conference, the team recognizes the need for a change. Per QC Times, here is what recruiting coordinator Seth Wallace had to say:

“I guess we’ve fallen in love with some kids a little earlier than we have in the past,’’

“The biggest thing is being able to get ahead of the curve, which is probably the biggest change, just how aggressively we’ve been on the front end of things.’

Getting ahead of the curve is exactly what Iowa has done, as they have offered around 150 high school juniors already. Let's hope this pays dividends later for the team.
