McElwain is pleased with how offensive line is developing
The Florida offensive line experienced some considerable growing pains in 2015.
Jim McElwain's group was an amalgam of graduate transfers, often-injured returners, and true freshmen. It wasn't an ideal situation at the beginning of the season, to say the least.
With that said, the Gators did finish with a double-digit win total -- a surprise considering the ambiguity surrounding the team prior to the start of the year.
The group did make strides in the realms of pass protection and run blocking. Running backs did run for only a 3.4 yards per carry average on the year, but Florida's mass amount of youth lends to the notion the group will only improve in 2016.
Via Rivals.com, McElwain spoke about the growth of the unit during bowl preparations for the contest against Michigan.
"Here's the good thing, we've got some guys that are getting some great reps. They're going to learn and get a little bit better based on their experience," said McElwain. "You're obviously going to go in with three starting true freshmen and then a left tackle that's a true sophomore. I look at it as this is bright for the future of the Gators because these are guys that'll keep getting better."
