Iowa AD believes fully that Ferentz is the right guy

When you go 34-30 after signing a big extension that currently pays $4M a season, there will be constant questions about your job security.

Normally those questions are aimed at Hawkeyes head coach Kirk Ferentz but on this occasion they were lobbed at athletic director Gary Barta. Season ticket sales are down and questions continue to come more and more about if Ferentz is the right guy to lead Iowa back to where they want to be.

Here is what Barta had to say per the Omaha World Herald:

“We had so much success in the middle of the 2000s and then up and down after that, he said. Seven wins, at some campuses, there would be a lot of excitement. Seven wins at Iowa last year didn’t meet our expectations — mine, the coaches or all of our supporters. We hear from those who are upset. My response is, ‘We can’t wait to get you back.’ ”

If we take Barta at his word that seven wins doesn't meet expectations, Ferentz will find himself squarely on the hot seat this season.
