From tears to cheers, young Giants fan awarded foul ball

Tears turned to triumph for a young San Francisco Giants fan who took a ball off the leg but still went home with a smile and a souvenir.
It happened when the Giants' Brandon Crawford turned on a pitch from Washington Nationals ace Stephen Strasburg in the second inning Monday and sent the ball screaming down the right-field line. The young fan was waiting with his glove, but when the ball hit the bullpen mound and went skipping into the stands straight at him, he turned into young, frozen fan.
The result was the ground-rule double smoking the kid in the leg and sending him to the concrete steps in a heap and writhing in pain. He was being looked at by a stadium worker when his frown was turned upside down: Someone retrieved the baseball and handed it to the kid, who made an instant transformation from traumatized boy in pain to triumphant hero.
