Happ was traded to the Mariners on Wednesday in exchange for outfielder Michael Saunders, Jayson Stark of ESPN.com reports.
He went 19-20 with a 4.39 ERA in 58 appearances (50 starts) with Toronto after coming over from Houston in 2012, but Happ, who owns 42.2 percent flylball rate for his career, should benefit with the move to spacious Safeco Field. The Mariners had thin starting pitching depth and needed to add another arm. The left-hander likely will knock Roenis Elias from the rotation at least to start the season.
