Wides out: Megatron, Green expected to miss Week 6

Published Oct. 10, 2014 5:19 a.m. ET

Did you draft Calvin Johnson? If you're a smart fantasy owner, hopefully you drafted competent backups as well. Johnson is not expected to play this week after re-injuring his right ankle against the Bills. Johnson hasn't practiced this week, and there's almost no chance he suits up Sunday.

Bengals WR A.J. Green is also doubtful for Sunday's game against the Panthers after aggravating a toe injury during Wednesday's practice. It sounds like Green could miss a few games due to this issue.

What to do if your bench receivers aren't good enough? Giants WR Rueben Randle is owned in just 51.5 percent of FOXSports.com leagues, and has a sweet matchup this week. Mohamed Sanu (40 percent owned) can help PPR owners as the Bengals' last man standing, and Browns' slot man Andrew Hawkins (20.2 percent owned) can do the same. Allen Robinson (2 percent owned) has already caught 22 passes for the Jaguars, and Andre Holmes (0.9 percent owned) caught five passes for 74 yards and a TD on 12 targets in the Raiders' last game before the bye.

In other news ...

The Cardinals' website says there's "still no clarity" about who will start at quarterback this week, while Arizona Republic reports are focused on rookie Logan Thomas as Drew Stanton (concussion) hopes to be cleared for full practice today. Carson Palmer (shoulder) has been limited in practice, but sounds unlikely to play at this point. Head coach Bruce Arians has said that Palmer will need to go through a full practice before playing, and his last chance is today.

Here's a video of two Fort Lauderdale Sun Sentinel Dolphins' beat writers arguing over who should be the team's lead back. Knowshon Moreno (elbow) has been limited in practice, and seems to have a decent chance to return this week. If he does, both Moreno and Lamar Miller are startable against the Packers' league-worst run defense.

Bucs WR Vincent Jackson (ribs) hasn't practiced this week, and his status for Sunday is cloudy. Teammate Mike Evans (groin) has a chance to play after missing Week 4.

Lions RB Reggie Bush (ankle) hasn't practiced this week, and is iffy for Sunday. Joique Bell (concussion) is expected to return, and could put up some numbers with Bush out of the way.

Chargers RB Donald Brown (concussion) hasn't practiced this week. The Branden Oliver Express is ready to roll again versus the terrible Raiders.

Players listed as questionable and/or limited who you shouldn't be worried about: Julio Jones, Andre Ellington, Greg OlsenMike WallaceKeenan AllenFred Jackson. Did you know that Jackson played 46 snaps to C.J. Spiller's 25 last week?

The Titans were without QB Jake Locker (thumb) and RB Shonn Greene (hamstring) at Thursday's practice. Come on, Bishop Sankey ...

Panthers head coach Ron Rivera said Thursday that the team is "optimistically, cautiously excited" about RB Jonathan Stewart (knee) returning to action this week. If Stewart plays, he'll be in the RB30 range. If he doesn't, stay away from the other Panther backs, even if I'm still hoping for a mini-breakout from Fozzy Whittaker.

Percy Harvin missed Thursday's practice with a thigh injury. It doesn't sound serious, but we should know more today.

49ers TE Vernon Davis (back) appears on track to return to action Monday night.

Vikings OC Norv Turner says he wants to get WR Cordarrelle Patterson more involved in the offense. Let's see it, Norv!

Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) was limited in practice again on Thursday, but keeps saying he expects to play this week. It's hard to trust Reed unless you have another late-game option, but let's see what the 'Skins say today.

The Jets think that WR Eric Decker (hamstring) will be ready to play this week.

Jaguars RB Toby Gerhart (foot) missed practice on Thursday. Signs still point to rookie Storm Johnson being the Jags' primary ballcarrier this week. I have Johnson at RB31, and am debating whether I should start him in a flex spot over Cowboys WR Terrance Williams. What would you do?

Here's a link to our weekly rankings. We'll update them Friday night.
