Tony Parker: I might not be 100 percent, but I'll play in Finals

The San Antonio Spurs will need Tony Parker if they hope to avenge last year's NBA Finals loss to the Miami Heat.

Parker sat out with a sore ankle in the second half of the Spurs' series-clinching Game 6 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday.

With plenty of time to rest before the Finals rematch with the Heat begins, Parker says he will be good to go for Game 1.

"Today, I spend my days in treatment, but the good news is that I will play the first game of the Finals on Thursday against the Heat," Parker told RMC Sport in French. "I may not be 100 percent but I'll be there."

Spurs coach Gregg Popovich and the team did not know much about his condition during Game 6 against the Thunder, but Parker said that it was a lingering injury he suffered earlier in the playoffs.

"I twisted my ankle in Game 4 of the first round against Dallas," he said. "I continued to play with the pain and I again twisted the ankle in Game 4 of the conference finals against Oklahoma City. I gritted my teeth. I did not mean to abandon my teammates. But the pain was too strong in the sixth game. I could not really play anymore."

Even if Parker isn't 100 percent, he's not going to miss out on the opportunity to help get the Spurs their fifth NBA Championship.

"In 13 years, I played seven conference finals and I have the chance to play my fifth Finals with Spurs," he said. "This is really great. I continue my dream, this is really something great."
