Suns seeded 5th for Summer League tournament


The Suns are seeded fifth for the Las Vegas NBA Summer League tournament and will play its first game in the single-elimination event at 3 p.m. Thursday against the winner of Wednesday's Miami Heat-New Orleans Pelicans game.
The Suns were 2-1 in the preliminary rounds of the Las Vegas league, suffering their only loss to the Heat on Tuesday. The Heat also went 2-1, while the Pelicans went 1-2.
Devin Booker, who didn't play in Tuesday's loss, is leading the Summer League in scoring (26.0) and assists (6.5). Alan Williams is averaging 15.3 points and 11.3 rebounds, and second-round draft pick Tyler Ulis is averaging 12.3 points and 6.3 assists. Marquese Chriss is averaging 10.0 points and 9.0 assists, and Dragan Bender is averaging 8.0 points and 5.0 rebounds while shooting 30.8 percent from the field. Bender made 3 of 5 3-point attempts in the loss to Miami.
If the Suns win on Thursday, they would play in a quarterfinal game on Saturday. If they lose, they would conclude Summer League play with a loser's bracket game on Friday afternoon.
