Rangers to open 2016 season at home vs. Mariners

The Texas Rangers will open the 2016 season April 4 with a matchup against the Seattle Mariners.

The Rangers will play a three-game set against Seattle before heading on the road for seven games according to the team's schedule, which was released Tuesday.

Texas will play teams from the National League Central as part of its interleague schedule with the Rangers playing at the Chicago Cubs (July 15-17) and St. Louis Cardinals (June 17-19). The Milwaukee Brewers (Sept. 26-28) and Pittsburgh Pirates (May 27-29) will make trips to Globe Life Park. Texas will also host (June 21-22) and play at Cincinnati (Aug. 23-24) in addition to a home-and-home four-game set with Colorado (Aug. 8-11)

The New York Yankees will make an early trip to Arlington for an April 25-27 series and the Boston Red Sox come to town June 24-26.

Texas plays 13 of 16 games at home to end May and start June before heading out for a 10-game road trip. The Rangers are home for just four games in the first 24 days of July. Texas also closes the season with 12 of its final 15 games at home, including a regular-season ending series against Tampa Bay (Sept. 30-Oct. 2).
