NFL Week 3: Wednesday injury report

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

With two weeks booked in the 2016 NFL season, these are the players facing injury and could be forced to miss time.

Bad news struck the Minnesota Vikings in the backfield yet again with Adrian Peterson out for 3-4 months with a meniscus that will be surgically repaired.

Peterson is the biggest name on the injury report for Wednesday but the one that is most noteworthy is the injured shoulder of Patriots quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

New England already had to shuffle their QB depth chart with the suspension of Tom Brady and now the uncertain status of Garoppolo could put rookie Jacoby Brissett in the starting lineup.

Things are so thin behind him that wide receiver and former Kent State quarterback Julian Edelman is listed as the team’s backup. The Patriots play the Texans on Thursday and it looks like the Pats may also be without Rob Gronkowski who has missed the first two games.
