Magic rookie Aaron Gordon out indefinitely after foot surgery

Published Nov. 21, 2014 6:30 p.m. ET

The Orlando Magic announced that rookie forward Aaron Gordon underwent a procedure on Friday to repair the fractured fifth metatarsal in his left foot.

Gordon, the fourth overall pick in the NBA Draft, was diagnosed a week ago and will have the foot re-evaluated in six to eight weeks by a specialist. The Magic are listing him as being out indefinitely, with his return depending on how he responds to rehabilitation.

Surgeon Robert Anderson performed the procedure on the 19-year-old in Charlotte, not far from where the Magic were facing the Hornets on Friday night.

Gordon had come off the bench in all of the Magic's first 11 games and was averaging 5.8 points and 3 rebounds in 15 minutes. His best game came on Nov. 7 when he scored 17 points and collected six rebounds in an overtime victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
