Irving calls himself 'voice of reason' on the Cavs
Kyrie Irving told Shaquille O'Neal on The Big Podcast the Cleveland Cavaliers would have won the NBA Finals if everyone was healthy.
"I feel like we definitely would have won an NBA championship if we had everyone healthy," Irving said.
Irving fractured his left kneecap in overtime of Game 1 on the NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors. The Cavaliers were also without Kevin Love, who dislocated his shoulder against the Boston Celtics in the first round of the NBA Playoffs.
The Cavaliers took a 2-1 lead in the NBA Finals before the Warriors won three straight to win in six games.
When asked about recruiting Kevin Love back to Cleveland, Irving called himself "the voice of reason."
"I'm always going to be a straight shooter with everyone and give them my honest opinion," Irving said. "Obviously, we have a great thing in Cleveland, and we dealt with everything together."
He then said that if healthy, he believes the Cavs would have won the NBA Championship.
With Love and Irving, the Cavaliers finished the season 34-9 after trading for Iman Shumpert, J.R. Smith and Timofey Mozgov.
Irving also talked about his recovery from injury, playing with LeBron James and whether he has better handles than Warriors guard Stephen Curry with Shaq.
