Favre selects wife to present him at Hall of Fame

The only mystery to Brett Favre's induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame was which teammate or coach was going to present him in the Aug. 6 ceremony in Canton, Ohio.

Turns out, Favre went with his "best teammate" -- his wife, Deanna.

Deanna Favre will be just the second wife to be a presenter at the Hall of Fame ceremony. The other time occurred in 1998, when Kim Singletary presented her husband, former Chicago Bears linebacker Mike Singletary.

"Deanna is the best teammate I've ever had," Favre said in a statement. "She has been by my side throughout this journey and I'm so excited that she gets to play such an important role for me."

The Favres both grew up in Kiln, Miss., and went to Southern Mississippi. They had a their first daughter, Brittany, in 1989 and were married in 1996. Deanna has stood by Brett through his additions to Vicodin and alcohol as well as a sexting scandal.

Deanna Favre was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004 and has been an advocate for the disease since. Deanna is the CEO of Favre 4 Hope, which has raised over $8 million for various charities.

"Serving as Brett's presenter is a great honor," she said. "I am thrilled to be able share this special moment in time with him."

The other honorees and presenters at this year's Hall of Fame ceremony are Edward J. Debartolo Jr. (Lisa DeBartolo, daughter), Tony Dungy (Donnie Shell, former teammate), Kevin Greene (Dom Capers, coach) Marvin Harrison (Jim Irsay, Indianapolis Colts owner), Orlando Pace (Justin Pace, son), Ken Stabler (John Madden, Hall of Fame coach) and Dick Stanfel (Marv Levy, Hall of Fame coach).
