Did Fireman Ed make an appearance at the Jets game?
Earlier this week, Ed Reed urged Jets superfan Fireman Ed to return to MetLife Stadium for the first time since last year's infamous Thanksgiving buttfumble game and rally the reeling team and its fans.
One would think that such a request would go ignored -- Reed certainly isn't the first to have made it -- but apparently Reed has some pull in the New York area, because sure enough, Fireman Ed was in the crowd for Sunday's game against the Dolphins, and Instagram user Joe304 has what appears to be proof:
Don't get too excited though, because according to the caption on the photo, Ed is just there as Ed Anzalone, not in character as Fireman Ed, and he's not pumping up the fans with his traditional J-E-T-S chant.
And if the Jets' struggles against the Dolphins continue -- New York trailed 6-0 at the half and quarterback Geno Smith was benched after posting an 8.3 first-half passer rating -- it would be tough to fault Fireman Ed for sliding back into retirement again.
