St. Petersburg Bowl: Connecticut (6-6) vs Marshall (9-3)
The Marshall Thundering Herd will try to improve upon their stellar postseason record when they meet the Connecticut Huskies in the St. Petersburg Bowl. The Thundering Herd are consensus 4-point betting favorites and have gone an impressive 9-1 straight-up and against the spread in their past 10 bowl games. Marshall will be taking on a UConn team that has struggled to cover lately, going 7-17 ATS in its last 24 overall and also dropping 11 of 15 SU after failing to cover its previous game.
Sun Bowl: Miami (8-4) vs Washington State (8-4)
The Miami Hurricanes will continue their transition into a new era when they square off against the Washington State Cougars in the Sun Bowl. The Hurricanes fired head coach Al Golden and replaced him on an interim basis with Larry Scott, who will be on the team's sidelines for the last time before Mark Richt takes over. Miami is 0-4 against the spread in its past four bowl games and faces a red-hot Washington State team that has gone 8-1 ATS in its last nine overall. The Cougars are listed as 2.5-point favorites, but the underdog has covered five of the previous six Sun Bowls.
Heart of Dallas Bowl: Washington (6-6) vs Southern Miss (9-4)
The Washington Huskies will look to keep the favorite's perfect record in the Heart of Dallas Bowl intact when they face the Southern Miss Golden Eagles. The Huskies are 8.5-point chalk, and the favorite has gone 5-0 straight-up and 4-1 against the spread in the bowl game. Washington is also 5-1 ATS in its last six games during the month of December. Southern Miss has gone 0-3 ATS in its last three bowl games but has been great covering recently overall. The Golden Eagles are 10-3 ATS in their last 13 games.
Pinstripe Bowl: Duke (7-5) vs. Indiana (6-6)
Two schools that have really struggled against their opponent's conference will meet in the Pinstripe Bowl, as the Indiana Hoosiers battle the Duke Blue Devils. The Hoosiers are listed as 2-point favorites and have gone 5-0 against the spread in their last five games after a win, but they have lost six of their last seven straight-up versus ACC opponents. Meanwhile, the Blue Devils are just 2-12 SU versus the Big Ten, and they are also 1-4 SU and ATS in their past five overall. In addition, Duke will be trying to break a three-game losing streak in the postseason, although the underdog has gone 3-2 SU and 4-1 ATS in the previous five Pinstripe Bowls.
Independence Bowl: Virginia Tech (6-6) vs Tulsa (6-6)
The Virginia Tech Hokies hope to send head coach Frank Beamer off with a victory in his final game when they take on the Tulsa Golden Hurricane in the Independence Bowl. The Hokies started their current run of 23 consecutive postseason games with a 45-20 victory against the Indiana Hoosiers in the 1993 Independence Bowl, and they are 10-12 straight-up in their previous 22 bowl appearances under Beamer. Virginia Tech is a 13.5-point favorite and has also gone 25-5 SU in its last 30 games against AAC opponents. Tulsa comes into the game winning four of five overall both SU and ATS, but the underdog is 2-7 SU and ATS in the previous nine Independence Bowls.
Foster Farms Bowl: Nebraska (5-7) vs UCLA (8-4)
The Nebraska Cornhuskers will attempt to pull off the upset against the UCLA Bruins as one of three teams with a losing record to make the postseason in the Foster Farms Bowl. The Cornhuskers are 6.5-point underdogs and have gone 12-4 straight-up in their last 16 after failing to cover the number in their previous game. However, they will be facing a UCLA team led by freshman quarterback Josh Rosen that is 4-1 against the spread in its last 10 versus Big Ten foes. Another trend working in favor of the Bruins is that the favorite has gone 6-2 ATS in winning the last eight Foster Farms Bowls.
