A message posted to social media by Russell Wilson reveals, contrary to widespread rumors, that he will not be taking Ciara to the White House Correspondents’ Dinner this weekend. Instead, Wilson will be escorting another special lady in his life: His grandmother.

The Seattle Seahawks quarterback posted a video to Facebook this week where he's dancing with his grandma along with the message, "Can’t wait to dance with my beautiful date at the WHCD this weekend! #shesgotmoves #loveugrandma."

Despite the development, the Seattle Seahawks quarterback is believed to be dating the 29-year-old pop star. They reportedly first met at an April 10 wrap party for the NBC show “I Can Do That.” An “eyewitness” told US Weekly that the rumored couple “were cozy in a booth together at the party.”

Wilson and a mystery date believed to be Ciara were also spotted on Sunday taking in a Seattle Mariners game together.

The entire buzz surrounding the belief Ciara was Wilson’s plus-one for the White House gala stemmed from AOL releasing a partial guest list where the pop princess is listed as the quarterback’s date. But according to Wilson’s Facebook post, it’s his grandma that will be on his arm on Saturday.

A source for “E! News,” meanwhile, indicates Wilson and Ciara are in the “beginning stages” of their relationship and “it’s very fresh.” The source adds that Ciara thinks Wilson “is a complete gentleman and has really enjoyed hanging out with him these past few weeks.” So there’s that.

While the recent developments involving Wilson’s date for the Correspondents’ Dinner certainly doesn’t mean that the Seahawks quarterback and the pop star aren’t dating, it’s just that she won’t be with him on Sunday. That date is reserved for grandma.
