Two Jets CBs ruled out for game vs. Panthers

Published Nov. 27, 2009 8:59 p.m. ET

New York Jets cornerbacks Dwight Lowery and Donald Strickland will not play against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday because of injuries.

Lowery has a high ankle sprain, suffered last Sunday in the loss at New England. He will likely be replaced in the starting lineup by Lito Sheppard. Justin Miller, inactive the last two games, will also likely take over on kickoff returns.

Strickland, a key backup, suffered a concussion against the Patriots when he was hit hard by tackle Mark LeVoir on a block.

Linebacker Vernon Gholston, sidelined the last two games with a strained hamstring, is listed as probable against Carolina.
