Tennessee middle linebacker Colin McCarthy will miss his second consecutive game because of a concussion, and his sixth overall, when the Titans visit the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.

McCarthy was held out of practice Friday after practicing some Wednesday and Thursday.

''We're not happy with here he's at right now, and it's probably good to rest him for another week,'' coach Mike Munchak said. ''He's progressing, but with more activity, he's just not ready to play in a football game. . He needs to be a little better than he is right now in order to play in a game on Sunday. So we just ruled him out.''

McCarthy, a defensive captain, missed four games previously this season because of to a sprained right ankle.

''It's been a tough year for him. It's been frustrating for Colin and for the team,'' Munchak said.

But left tackle Michael Roos returned to practice Friday with his sprained right knee and is questionable. Munchak expects Roos to play against the Colts, and the Titans need him as the only starter from the offensive line from training camp not on injured reserve.

The Titans (4-8) also ruled out receiver Damian Williams with a hamstring injury. The Titans promoted receiver Michael Preston from the practice squad Friday and waived fullback Collin Mooney.

Defensive end Kamerion Wimbley (toe) is questionable along with running back Jamie Harper (ankle) and receiver Lavelle Hawkins (ankle). Jake Locker (left shoulder) is probable after practicing all week along with tight end Jared Cook (neck) and receiver Kenny Britt (knee).
