Titans DE William Hayes sits against Steelers

Tennessee defensive end William Hayes is missing a second straight game as the Titans give him one more week to heal his knee by deactivating him against Pittsburgh on Sunday.

The Steelers already had announced left tackle Max Starks (ankle) and nose tackle Casey Hampton (hamstring) would not play. Jonathan Scott will start for Starks with Chris Hoke starting in Hampton's spot. The Steelers also activated defensive tackle Steve McLendon after cutting Byron Leftwich to provide depth on a day with the temperature predicted to reach 90 degrees.

Hayes started 11 games last season. He sprained his right knee during training camp. He practiced Friday and said he would be ready against the Giants if he didn't play against Pittsburgh.
