Every Monday during the regular season, FOX Sports information man Jay Glazer will give five awards with a unique twist and insight shaped by two decades of being around the NFL's biggest names. And the winners for Week 10 are ...
The Best Trade Not Made Glazie: San Francisco general manager Trent Baalke and linebacker Ahmad Brooks
Sometimes what makes you a good team are the plugs you DON'T pull. That's exactly what happened when Baalke decided against dealing Brooks to Cleveland just before the NFL's trade deadline. The decision paid off big-time Sunday against New Orleans. Brooks sacked Saints quarterback Drew Brees in overtime to force a fumble that linebacker Chris Borland recovered. Phil Dawson kicked a field goal on the next play to give the 49ers a 27-24 win that may have saved their season. If Brooks isn't there, who knows if his replacement makes the same play?
Worst Mascot Decision of The Millennium Glazie: Whoever allowed Justin Bieber to hang around the Steelers before their loss to the Jets
Oh, James Harrison. James, James, James ... How did you let this happen? A fake tough guy like Bieber is the anti-Harrison. Bieber's bad karma was strong enough to cool off the NFL's hottest offense.
The Noooooooooooooooo! Glazie: Arizona quarterback Carson Palmer
When we first saw him go down with a torn ACL on Sunday against St. Louis, anyone who has ever been a teammate, coach or even reporter who has covered him immediately thought, "Noooooooooooooooo!" Carson had worked so hard to get back to playing like his old self. He traveled back and forth to Denver earlier this season to get treatment on a damaged shoulder nerve that kept him out for about a month. And we all remember when Palmer first tore up the same knee in the 2005 playoffs. The only good thing: Palmer signed a three-year, $50 million contract two days before getting hurt.
The Transverse Process Glazie: Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo
Imagine severe pain caused by fractures in your spine. That's what a transverse process injury is, and that's what Romo is playing with. No one should ever doubt the guy's toughness. Romo gutted it out to throw three touchdowns and lead Dallas to a 31-17 victory over Jacksonville.
The It-Could-Have-Been-Worse Glazie: Cincinnati head coach Marvin Lewis
The only thing that could have hurt Lewis more than last Thursday's 24-3 loss to Cleveland was a Sean Payton-style injury when hit by one of his own players. But while he isn't as fleet of foot as when he played linebacker at Idaho State University in the early 1980s, Lewis survived getting trucked by Bengals cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick on the sideline. Lewis now has to hope his team bounces right back up like he did when the Bengals play Sunday against New Orleans.
