The Dime Package returns to again offer 10 thoughts on Sunday’s slate of games, this time tackling NFL Week 7

NFL Week 7 was your standard, run of the mill week in the NFL until the Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals played one of the most bizarre games in NFL history. After a defensive struggle, both field goal kickers shanked potential game-winning chip shots in overtime.

That wasn’t the only thing to take away from the week that was, though. With Geno Smith’s short-lived run as the New York Jets quarterback, the Minnesota Vikings failing to stay unbeaten, and much more going down.

Here is The Dime Package, offering 10 thoughts on NFL Week 7.

1. So, is Ryan Fitzpatrick the Jets quarterback again? He did lead them to a win over the Baltimore Ravens yesterday. Then again, he did rail against the owner, general manager and coach in his post-game press conference. Thus, there’s a good chance that, if he is healthy, Geno Smith is still the quarterback.

2. Speaking of the Ravens, I can’t believe I loaded praise on them in the preseason. Baltimore has now lost four in a row and look like a team heading for another top 10 pick in the draft.

3. The Vikings crashed and burned in Philly yesterday because their injuries have finally caught up to them.

    4. Give Miami Dolphins coach Adam Gase a lot of credit. After a rough start to the season, he could have sacrificed his program and his philosophy in the name of winning games, but he didn’t. Instead he stuck with the plan and it is paying off. The Dolphins have won two in a row.

    5. Speaking of Miami, running back Jay Ajayi is finally starting to round into form. Ajayi has enormous potential and as long as he stays healthy, he has a chance to be one of the ten best backs in the league.

    6. Calling A.J Green a stud is a gross misinterpretation of the word stud. He is a stud and then some. That catch on the Hail Mary yesterday is beyond ridiculous.

    7. I am starting to feel bad for Drew Brees because he is wasting the last few years of his career playing for a New Orleans Saints team that can’t run the football and doesn’t play defense. I know Brees is getting paid a king’s ransom, but the fact that the Saints can’t build a competitive roster around him is pathetic.

    8. I love Phillip Rivers. The guy is as tough and gutsy as they come. He’s a true gunslinger who wills his team to victory. The San Diego Chargers had no business beating the Falcons but Rivers, willed them to that win.

    9. The Patriots didn’t exactly dominate in their 27-16 win over the Steelers. Once again though, Tom Brady and company did enough to get the job done. Here is a scary thought: Rob Gronkowski is matchup nightmare again. The entire league just collectively yelped in fear.

    10. Sunday night’s 6-6 tie between the Cardinals and Seahawks is the dumbest game I have ever watched. Not only did the game go into overtime, but both kickers missed chip shot field goals to win the game. It was a game Rod Sterling would have enjoyed.
