'The Daily Show' rips Roger Goodell over Ray Rice controversy

Published Sep. 11, 2014 2:38 p.m. ET

The National Football League is having a rough week, and "Daily Show" host Jon Stewart has joined in the criticism.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell is under fire from every which way for his handling of the Ray Rice situation. The NFL was exposed Wednesday when The Associated Press reported that a law enforcement official claimed he had sent video of Rice beating his wife to the league, despite Goodell's insistence that he never saw the video.

One of those who went after Goodell and the league the hardest was Stewart. In his opening monologue Wednesday, Stewart ripped the NFL for its handling of the situation. More specifically, Stewart ripped into Goodell for his recent actions and words.
