The Chargers chatted with a potential Eric Weddle replacement

The San Diego Chargers could turn to a former Bronco to turn the page from the Eric Weddle era.

According to Walter Football, they met with safety prospect Darian Thompson -- of Boise State, not Denver -- at the Senior Bowl on Tuesday. Thompson has been reportedly drawing rave reviews in Mobile, Ala.

At 6-foot-1 and 201 pounds, Thompson is a little bigger than Weddle. But he possesses a similar knack for the ball after grabbing 14 picks over 31 starts, including seven in 2015 alone.

That kind of production is hard to overlook, particularly in a draft class with few true "centerfield" prospects. He's worthy of a second or third round selection right now.

The Chargers have their hard-hitting box safety in Jahleel Addae. Thompson could be the perfect coverage complement in San Diego if he's around on Day 2 of the NFL Draft.
