Snelling to miss game after arrest

Published Nov. 16, 2013 12:00 a.m. ET

Falcons running back Jason Snelling will not play Sunday at Tampa Bay after being arrested on misdemeanor charges of marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Coach Mike Smith made the announcement Saturday, saying he was ''disappointed in what has transpired over the last 48 hours.''

Snelling did not take part in the team's final practice before facing the Buccaneers after being arrested early Friday morning in suburban Winder. Smith says the player has ''decided to take some personal time to deal with his situation.''

Police say Snelling's SUV was pulled over after officers noticed it weaving and crossing the center line. Officers allegedly smelled marijuana inside the vehicle and determined Snelling did not have a valid driver's license or insurance.
