Seahawks make several moves

The Seattle Seahawks, perhaps looking to improve their depth at few positions, made several roster moves on Tuesday.

They signed veteran WR Brandon Stokley, G/OT Allen Barbre, and OT Breno Giacomini. To make room for all three players on the 53-man roster, the team waived OL Mansfield Wrotto, FB Quinton Ganther, and G Mike Gibson.

Barbre and Giacomini last played for the Green Bay Packers. Barbre was Green Bay's fourth-round selection (119th overall) in the 2007 NFL Draft from Missouri Southern. He played in 25 career games with his seven career starts coming at right tackle last season.
Giacomini was the Packers fifth-round selection (150th overall) in the 2008 NFL Draft out of Louisville. He has played in one career game, being active for three and inactive for the remaining 29 contests.

Seattle signed Gibson off Philadelphia's practice squad on October 21, 2009 and he played in six games with one start. Ganther signed as a free agent on March 18 and Wrotto was re-signed on September 14 after originally being drafted in the fourth-round (124th overall) of the 2007 NFL Draft.

Stokley, who will compete for the slot receiver job, was released by the Denver Broncos on Sept. 14 after spending the previous three seasons with the Broncos (2007-09). The 12-year veteran was selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the fourth-round (105th overall) of the 1999 NFL Draft, spending four seasons with the club (1999-2002).

In Baltimore's Super Bowl XXXV win over the New York Giants, he had a 38-yard touchdown reception. He signed with Indianapolis in 2003 and played four seasons with the Colts. Stokley played in four games and landed on injured reserve (Achilles) during the Colts Super Bowl XLI-winning season of 2006. He has played in 118 career games with 35 starts, recording 307 catches for 4,319 yards with 34 touchdowns and a long of 87 (touchdown).
