Saints running back Mark Ingram makes bold proclamation

Mark Ingram may have trouble emerging as the best back in the Saints running game. But don’t think that’s going to stop him … from being the best running back ever.
Ingram — who is penciled in as the starter in a crowded Saints backfield with Khiry Robinson, Pierre Thomas and Travaris Cadet — doesn't just want to be the Saints’ top back. Or the top back playing in the league.
“The sky’s the limit, man. I want to be the best back to ever play the freakin’ game of football,” Ingram said.
The 24-year-old 2009 Heisman Trophy winner’s career-high in rushing came in 2012 when he ran for 602 yards. He showed some encouraging signs last season when he ran for 145 yards and a touchdown against Dallas. But best running back ever potential?
Color us intrigued. We’ll certainly be watching Saints games with a little more interest.
