Russell Wilson: Seahawks WRs are 'as fast as it gets'

Maybe it’s the Seahawks’ work on sandy beaches in Southern California during the offseason that has their team’s quarterback confident as ever in his wide receiving corps.

With the addition of Colorado product Paul Richardson via the NFL Draft and a healthy Percy Harvin added to the lineup, quarterback Russell Wilson believes the whole crop of talent can’t get much quicker.

“Yeah, our receivers right now are as fast as it gets,” Wilson said Monday, per The News Tribune. “You’ve got Percy Harvin, Doug Baldwin, Jermaine Kearse is extremely fast, too. Then you add Paul Richardson who you saw today went for that deep, deep ball that I threw to him. He’s looking exceptional as well. So I think our receiver group is probably one of the faster in the league right now, based on who we have.”

Despite having wide receiver Golden Tate poached during free agency, the Seahawks seem to have not skipped a beat.

“The receivers, to be honest with you, that’s been the best looking position so far -- with our offense, at least,” Wilson said. “They’ve done a tremendous job.

Offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell dialed up just 420 pass plays last season, which ranked 31st in the NFL. With a newfound confidence in their third-year quarterback and the emergence of a loaded unit of pass catchers, expect Seattle to conduct business through the air more often next season.

On another note, with running back Marshawn Lynch skipping OTAs, second-year running back Christine Michael has made quite the impression.

Michael, who was selected in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft, made it look easy on Monday, taking a stretch play to the weakside, stopping on a dime and spinning it upfield for a big gain.
