New England Patriots linebacker Dont'a Hightower is expected to be out six to seven months after having surgery to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder, the Boston Globe reported Friday.

Hightower, who played through the injury during New England's 28-24 victory over the Seattle Seahawks in the Patriots' Super Bowl victory, had surgery Feb. 10.

Hightower made the game-saving tackle on Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch at the 1-yard line, setting up Malcolm Brown's dramatic interception that sealed the Patriots' championship.

Hightower played in 14 games last season and finished with six sacks.
